1. Will AI replace nurses?

Nvidia's AI nurses? $9 an hour. It's cheap. It's unsettling. On April 22, Kaiser nurses protested against the use of AI by the hospital system. As a nurse, the idea of AI taking over is chilling, but it is something I was expecting would eventually come to test us. We're more than tasks and checklists. What about empathy and human connections? They say it'll fix the nurse shortage. I doubt it, but I am a realist and know hospital administrators will do anything to cut costs. Investing and side hustles? They’re necessary now, in my opinion. They're our safety net.

2. Nurses went from $200k to $350k/yr

Nurse went from $200k to $350kk

I previously interviewed an informatics nurse, Ivan, who lived with his wife (also a nurse) in Fresno, CA. He hopped on a call with me in our livestream this past week to tell us about their decision to move to the Sacramento area after watching several of our videos in which we compared the cost of living here to other parts of the country. The best part of his story is when he told me they increased their income from $200k per year to $350k per year, are debt-free, and purchased a brand new Tesla with nothing but cash.

3. “Can Nurses Afford California?”

Video fo Elk Grove California Homes for $500 to $600k

We always talk about how much nurses can earn in different parts of California, but rarely do we ever talk about how much house or rent you would be able to afford. So, we’ve started a new series. If you’re itching to move here but have no idea which city makes the most sense for you and your family, have no fear, we’re here to answer those questions. In our first episode, we drive through Elk Grove, California, and tour a few homes in the $500k to $600k range. Subscribe to our channel and follow the series!

4. Walmart loses but you get $500

Walmart Loses Lawsuit You Get $500 In Compensation

This one is not nursing-related but I was compelled to talk about it because Monica and I do most of our shopping at Walmart. The other day I came across a viral video on TikTok where a female was weighing her chicken and checking it against the stated weight in the packaging, only to find a huge discrepancy, and Walmart was charging her more than they should have been. So, it is my duty to inform you that Walmart has settled a class action lawsuit for $45 million over claims that prices charged for certain meat and citrus products—referred to as "weighted goods" and "bagged citrus"—were higher than advertised in their stores. If you bought any of these products from Walmart between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024, you are eligible for up to $500 in compensation as part of the settlement. You may not even need a receipt as proof of purchase! And you can thank me later 🤑.
