Didn't I tell you? Sacramento nurses beat all others

No other city even comes close!

I don't want to sound like a broken record but I've been saying this for the last 3 years in our YouTube channel and the last 7 years to our friends and former colleagues.

California has proven to be the highest-paying state for nurses, even when you factor in the cost of living.

But what's even better will surprise you. Keep reading.

A study completed by MoneyGeek looked at salaries adjusted for cost of living and taxes in around 100 US cities and noted that while the gross average salary for registered nurses might look good at $86,070, the reality after considering taxes and cost of living adjustments is a not as appealing—around $65,414.

To me, this just goes to show that nurses aren't really earning what they should, especially in pricier areas.

Here is how the worst cities faired in the study:

As you can see, in Washington D.C. nurses earn a pre-tax salary of $98,000 but end up with only $48,000 after adjusting for the high cost of living and taxes. It's almost like losing half your salary, which is incredibly tough. It just shows that a good salary on paper doesn't always mean much if the cost of living is too high.

So, which cities faired better in the study?

Surprised?

We'll, if you've been following us for some time, then you shouldn't be.

And you know what this article is missing? The other 600 cities that the Bureau of Labor Statistics collects nursing income for.

The fact of the matter is that California has 8 of the top 10 Cities for nurses when you take cost of living and taxes into account.

See you soon!
